Title Us N' Them (Second Review) Game Type Strategy Players 1 or 2 HD Installable Yes Compatibility All Available Aminet game/misc/UsNThem.lha Submission Sam Manwaring Review Us and them is a 1 or 2 player game, which at first glance appears much like a top-down version of chess. Actually, I'm told the game is based on the classic C64, and later Amiga, game Archon, but as I was born 2 years after Archon was released for the Amiga, I don't remember it. Archon only worked on very early Amigas, which is probably why Us'n'them was written. You control different units which have a variety of different weapons, rates of speed, firepower, and in the wizard's case, a selection of magic spells. Each player has just one wizard, and they can heal units which have been damaged in a fight, and even resurect units which have been destroyed. There are a variety of other pieces with various abilities, and, as in chess, each player has a number of foot soldiers, or pawns. To actually start fighting, two different pieces from opposing sides have to be on the same square, at this point the pieces are taken to a one-screen battle arena with obstacles like rocks which offer some cover, until they fade away. The winner of this event gains posession of the contested square. To gain an advantage, the square you are fighting on should be of your own team's colour. There are also five special Power point squares. These are partly immune to the effects of magic. The aim of the game is to win by either owning all Power point squares or destroying all the opposition's pieces. I found this game especially good because of the two player option which is great fun and although the sound is only adequate I would still recommend the game to most people. I give this game overall 8 out of 10.
